What the NDIS Changes Mean for Your Self-Care and Community Access Supports

With the NDIA announcing upcoming updates to support funding, many participants and families naturally have questions about how these changes may affect their day-to-day support.
Here is a quick overview of what these updates mean for your Assistance With Self-Care Activities and
Access Community Social and Rec Activities
1. "Self-Care" Supports Remain Fully Protected
Essential daily living supports—such as assistance with showering, dressing, and meal preparation—remain recognized as critical Core Supports. Because these services are fundamental to maintaining your daily independence and safety at home, they will not be impacted by the upcoming budget reductions.
2. Funding Changes for Community Participation from 1 October 2026
Starting 1 October 2026, funding allocations for Social, Economic and Community Participation as well as Improved Daily Living Skills supports will undergo budget adjustments across the scheme.
Please note that these changes roll out progressively over 12 months as individual plans are created, reassessed, or renewed—meaning your existing budget does not cut overnight. Community access supports are not disappearing, but managing these funds strategically will become increasingly important.
3. What This Means for Your Ongoing Supports
Your essential home care services remain secure. For community participation, thoughtful budgeting and planning ahead with your support network will ensure you continue to make the most of your NDIS plan.
【Future Plan Management & Consultations】
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your current budget status due to these legislative changes, or how to manage your future Community Access supports, we recommend reaching out to your allocated Plan Manager or Support Coordinator.
